Weather in Morocco in April

April is a very good time to visit Morocco. The weather is warm but not too hot, making it ideal for exploring the outdoors. The Spring season (March, April, and May) is a high season in Morocco, with many tourists favoring visiting during this period.

Average temperatures in Morocco in April range from 18-25 degrees Celsius (64-77 degrees Fahrenheit). Expect the weather in coastal cities to be a few degrees colder than inland cities but nothing major.

In general Morocco’s weather in April is sunny and dry during the day and lovely cool evenings. If you visit in April, you will be able to swim in the beautiful oceans, hike up the green mountains, and enjoy the Sahara landscapes without worrying about the heat or the cold.

What to Pack for Morocco in April

Assuming you are visiting Morocco in April, you should pack light and comfortable clothing. The weather won’t be hot but still warm enough to make you sweaty.

If you are planning on adventure activities like mountain climbing, horse riding, and so on, make sure to pack appropriate clothes. that include comfortable closed-toe shoes, long trousers, and long sleeve cotton shirts.

Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat are also essential if you are visiting in April. The sun is something you should be careful of, even if it’s not too hot.

I always like to carry a light jacket with me whenever I travel and this is true for Morocco in April as well. The evenings can get a bit chilly, especially if you are spending a night in a Sahara desert camp.

Note on modesty in Morocco

Morocco is a Muslim country and it’s good to keep that in mind when packing for your trip no matter what time of year you visit. Morocco is a relatively relaxed country when it comes to the dress code but it’s still important to be respectful.

If you are a woman, I would recommend packing long skirts, dresses, and trousers as well as loose-fitting shirts that cover your shoulders. In general, it’s best to avoid shorts, tank tops, and anything that is too revealing.

Swimsuits are totally fine on the beach or in swimming pools, but make sure to cover up when you are not in the water.

What to do in Morocco in April

Attend the famous Marathon des sable

For athletes visiting Morocco in April, don’t miss out on the Marathon des sables. This is a grueling 5-day, 250 km ultramarathon that takes place in the Sahara desert, the biggest hot desert in the world.

Marathon des sables is not like any other marathon you’ve ever experienced. Not only is it incredibly challenging, but it’s also a great way to see some of Morocco’s most beautiful landscapes.

For the exact dates of the Marathon des sables, check the official website.

Discover Figuig (Figig) oasis

Probably a place you have never heard about, Figuig is a small town located on the Moroccan-Algerian border. This Moroccan town is known for its seven oases and is one of the most beautiful hidden destinations in Morocco.

Figuig is beautiful in April when the weather is warm but not too hot and the landscape is green and lush. Figuig is far from everything so don’t expect an easy trip to this town. It’s about 9 hours drive from Rabat and 5 hours from Oujda which is the closest city to Figig.

Visit Ouarzazate

April is also a good time to hit the roads toward Ouarzazate. This small city is located in the south of Morocco, about halfway between Marrakech and the Sahara desert. And it’s also known as “the gate to the Sahara desert”.

In addition to being close to the Sahara, Ouarzazate is a great base for exploring nearby attractions such as Draa Valley, Ait Benhaddou, and Todgha Gorge.

Road trip to Dakhla

Dakhla is a city located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco in the Moroccan Sahara desert. This region is also known as “the African peninsula” because it’s a long thin strip of land that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Dakhla is a great place for watersports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, and surfing. The waves here are some of the best in Morocco. And April is a great time to head to the city as it’s not that hot or cold.

Road tripping to Dakhla would be an epic adventure. The journey from Marrakech to Dakhla would take you through the Atlas mountains, across the Sahara desert, and finally to the Atlantic coast.

Along the way, you would get to see some of Morocco’s most amazing landscapes. If you are up for a long drive, then this is a great option for you. If not, you can easily fly into Dakhla from major cities such as Marrakech and Casablanca.

Enjoy the food in Marrakech

Marrakech is an all-year-round destination but April is a great time to visit if you want to enjoy the city’s street food scenes. April is the time when the weather is getting warmer and the days are longer so you can explore the city without the rush.

There are many great places to eat in Marrakech but some of the best street food can be found in Jemaa el-Fnaa square. This is a large square located in the center of Marrakech and it’s full of stalls selling all kinds of Moroccan food.
