Irish Stew

Irish stew is the national food of Ireland. The methods and flavor of an Irish stew vary from person to person and have evolved over the years. It was all depending on which ingredients were cheaper and more common at that time.

Irish Breakfast

The Irish breakfast was created for farm workers so they would be satiated and ready for a full day’s work. Traditionally, the full breakfast includes bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and perhaps some cooked leftover potatoes made into a hash or a bubble and squeak. There will also be toast, butter, marmalade, and lots of tea to drink.

Boxty

Boxty is a traditional Irish potato pancake. The dish is mostly associated with the north midlands, north Connacht and southern Ulster, in particular the counties of Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Fermanagh, Longford, and Cavan.

Coddle

Coddle is an Irish dish that is often made to use up leftovers, and therefore without a specific recipe. However, it most commonly consists of layers of roughly sliced sausages and rashers with chunky potatoes, sliced onion, salt, pepper, and herbs. Traditionally, it can also include barley.

Irish Roasted Salmon

Ireland is famous for the Wild Atlantic Salmon. And the farm-raised Irish Salmon is one of the most prized and tastiest types of fish in Ireland. The Irish salmon is marinated in honey, Irish whiskey, and a little bit of lemon juice to enhance the flavors then roasted.

Irish Shellfish

Ireland is well known for its sustainable fishing policies. So, be sure that the seafood you eat in Ireland is going to be ultra-fresh and super tasty. And the Irish oysters are no different. Served with a dash of lemon, the Irish shellfish has all the flavors you need.

Colcannon

Colcannon is a traditional Irish dish of mashed potatoes with cabbage or kale.

Barmbrack

Barmbrack, also often shortened to brack, is a quick bread with added sultanas and raisins. The bread is associated with Halloween in Ireland, where an item is placed inside the bread, with the person who receives it considered to be fortunate.

 Soda bread

Soda bread is a variety of quick bread traditionally made in Ulster in which sodium bicarbonate is used as a leavening agent instead of the traditional yeast. The ingredients of traditional soda bread are flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk.

Fifteens are a type of traybake from the north of Ireland. They are very popular among natives and ex-pats alike. The recipe calls for 15 of each ingredient, hence the name, and is typically composed of digestive biscuits, marshmallows, glacé cherries, condensed milk, and desiccated coconut.
