This guide will share our favorite romantic things to do and where to stay in the city of love!  As someone who has celebrated such romantic milestones in Paris, we are going to share our beloved attractions and pro tips for a blissful getaway.

It’s no wonder why Paris is called the city of love, every corner you’ll find elegant fine dining restaurants, beautiful parks, and couples taking a romantic stroll down cobblestone streets.

Romance is truly everywhere in Paris!

Paris is widely considered the world headquarters for fashion, food, and art.  Being France’s capital, it has easy accessibility to other popular locations including Lyon, Nice, Annecy, and Marseille.

While the summer may be peak season, you can be plagued with long lines at popular locations. To avoid overcrowded attractions (while still enjoying the weather) it is best to visit in the shoulder season, spring or fall.

Spring in our opinion is the ideal time to visit as flowers begin to bloom with the occasional rain that makes the scent of the city even sweeter.

There are many luxury hotels in Paris but finding one that is unique and special can be a challenge. Le Narcisse Blanc Hotel & Spa is a 5-star small boutique hotel that has a delightful spa and pool for guests.

The hotel acknowledges special occasions with handwritten cards and welcoming gifts.  During our stay, the hotel provided complimentary chocolates, fresh fruit, and heart-shaped balloons to make our romantic holiday even more special.  If you are a details kind of person, you will love all their personal touches.

One of the ideal aspects of this boutique hotel is that you can walk to popular attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Musée d’Orsay. Just outside there are attractive French cafes for a casual meal or drink.

Nothing quite says you’ve arrived in Paris like the Eiffel Tower. This iconic attraction is just as stunning in person as it is in photographs. Come at sunset to get the best photos! Take the stairs for unique views and some great photo opportunities.

Montmartre is a charming artsy neighborhood and a must-see, especially on your honeymoon. It has always been a favorite spot for artists, writers, and filmmakers. Visit the Basilica of Sacré Coueur, a beautiful white church of the Sacred Heart. Sit on the steps and you will be awed by panoramic views of all of Paris.

There is an abundance of romantic activities available such as the Musée de la Vie Romantique (Museum of Romantic Life) which is free to tour.  The main attraction is the house itself and its beautiful garden. It also has a small exhibition of jewelry and paintings of George Sand.

Even just strolling the streets can easily fill an entire day. Artists are often seen working on their paintings. Don’t be surprised if you come home with a souvenir.  One of the more interesting parts of our walks was finding Le Clos Montmartre, a vineyard in the middle of the city. While it is closed to the public, it is viewable from the road (and it still produces wine each year).

One of the romantic things to do in Paris is to cruise along the Seine River and enjoy breathtaking water views and see historical landmarks.

Paris is most beautiful at dusk, as the sun gleams on the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and many other architectural marvels. You will also get to see the bridges and buildings lit if you book a sunset cruise.

There’s nothing as lovely and romantic as having an outdoor picnic in Paris. Lucky for you there are plenty of parks across the city to explore. A personal favorite is the Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens) in the 6th arrondissement. It originated in 1612 as the Luxembourg Palace, home of Marie de’ Medici. These days it is a pristine park and a perfect place to sit and admire the local way of life.

Notre Dame Cathedral is a must-see when looking for things to do on a honeymoon in Paris. Built between 1163 and 1245, it is one of the world’s oldest and most recognized cathedrals.

The Cathedral’s interior has been shut down since 2019 following the fire. However, you can still appreciate the exterior of the building and take a couple of photos.

While roaming near Notre Dame Cathedral make a slight detour at the Marché aux Fleurs Reine Elizabeth II. The flower market began operations in the 19th century and contains a wide variety of flowers, decorative plants, live birds, and handcrafted treasures. Buy your new spouse flowers as a romantic gesture, or just stroll through and admire the scenery.

Located within a short walk from Notre Dame, Sainte-Chapelle is one of the most beautiful chapels in the world.  Known for its incredible stained glass, it has the largest collection from the 13th century.  This royal chapel is within the medieval Palais de la Cité. Completed in 1248 in a Gothic flair, it will take less than an hour to tour.  You will be captured by its breathtaking beauty that has lasted centuries.

You can’t leave Paris without sampling some of the best food in the world. Whether you do a gourmet food tour or just enjoy a special meal at an amazing Michelin star restaurant is your choice.

France has the most Michelin star restaurants in the entire world.  In Paris, you will have a multitude of mouth-watering places to eat like L’Oiseau Blanc, Arpege, and Le Pré Catelan. The Eiffel Tower also has a Michelin star restaurant, Le Jules Verne.  If you’re a foodie, this will be one of the best things to do on your honeymoon in Paris!

Pro tip: Save money by eating this delicious meal at lunch.  The same food quality and views for cheaper prices, win-win!

If you love art or culture the Louvre Museum is the place to start. This internationally famous art museum holds numerous beautiful works of art including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and far too many others to list.

To avoid waiting in long lines buy your Louvre tickets in advance.  The best time to visit is after 3 pm to avoid heavy foot traffic (especially in peak season).  They also offer night viewings on Wednesdays and Fridays until 9:45 pm which can be romantic to see on your honeymoon.

 Musée d’Orsay, Paris

Another splendid museum to visit during your honeymoon in Paris is the Musée d’Orsay located on the left bank of the Seine River.  The building is a historic railway station built in 1900.

The museum specializes in French artwork from 1848 to 1914.  You will find world-renowned pieces from Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Edward Manet, and more!

Champs Elysee is famous for being the World’s Most Beautiful Avenue with high-end stores, cafes, and gorgeous scenery!  It is a great place to admire the glitterati as they shop at some of the finest stores in Paris.  Nearly 1.5 miles in length, this historic walk runs from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe.

 Arc de Triomphe, Paris

The Arc de Triomphe is often considered the symbol of France’s capital and its victories under Napoleon, who commissioned its construction. You can admire it from a distance or also tour this grandiose monument.  Keep in mind that the stairs can be challenging, but you will find the view worth it. This monument also participates in the Paris Museum Pass program.

The Palace of Versailles is widely recognized as another top attraction just on the outskirts of Paris. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an elegant example of 18th-century French ornate architecture and beautiful gardens.  There is so much to see that you’ll want to spend most of a day here.

While in the gardens, take your lover to the Temple of Love.  Most tourists are focused on seeing the Hall of Mirrors and more well-known spots. This quaint temple provides a quiet and romantic retreat amongst lush greenery.

Moulin Rouge has been a major attraction in Paris for centuries. This burlesque club was established in 1889.  You feel the history as you enter the showroom like you are in a living painting by Toulouse-Lautrec. The show itself is well choreographed including dancers, acrobats, magicians, and more!

Pro Tip: You will want to be early to ensure a good seat near the front center stage.

After several days in Paris, you may want to explore other amazing sights in France. One of our absolute favorite day trips is to the Loire Valley.  On a honeymoon in Paris, fairytale chateaus and picturesque scenery within an hour or two are well worth the detour. There are so many fun things to do in the Loire Valley, that you’ll wish you booked a longer vacation!
